- Connecticut Veterans Job Match
As part of the Connecticut Job Match Initiative, Congressman John B. Larson, the Connecticut Department of Labor, the Connecticut Department of Veterans Services, and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) have teamed up to launch the Connecticut Veterans Job Match. The Connecticut Veterans Job Match will sign up unemployed veterans and match them with local manufacturing and trade businesses that are hiring.
Veterans interested in participating in this program are encouraged to sign up for the job match by visiting www.ctdol.state.ct.us/JobMatch/CTJobMatch.htm and clicking on either the Veterans Manufacturing or the Veterans Construction job match boxes. You can sign-up even if there are no events scheduled.

Connect-Ability - Connecticut Launches Ground-Breaking Employment Initiative For People With Disabilities. Connect-Ability began with a federal grant to the State of Connecticut to identify and remove barriers to employment faced by people with disabilities. The mission of Dress for Success is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
The "Suiting Program" is the first of many steps in a client's path towards self-sufficiency and the actualization of her professional goals. Once clients have secured an interview, they are referred from one of Dress for Success Hartford's local partner agencies. On their first visit to Dress for Success Hartford, personal shopper volunteers help them to pick out a suit ensemble, shoes, and accessories for their interview.
Not only does a professional appearance influence the final decision of a potential employer, but it also fosters confidence in the woman wearing the suit. This self-assuredness helps to guarantee that clients will be fully-prepared to go on an interview, ready to answer and ask questions, and are more likely to secure meaningful employment. Once a client secures employment, she is invited to return to Dress for Success - Hartford, where she receives additional clothing.

The Suit-a-Sister/Bless-a-Brother program helps low income and disadvantaged men and women throughout Greater Hartford who are entering or re-entering the workforce. The program provides clients with clothing appropriate for an interview or for work in a professional environment.
Suit-a-Sister/Bless-a-Brother also accepts donations of suits, dress shirts, ties, and other clothing suitable for the work environment to help men and women in Greater Hartford dress the part as they get a new start. They are collecting in-season, gently worn, professional attire for men and women (suits, dresses, blouses, dress shirts, dress slacks, sweaters, sports jackets, coats, etc.). Clothing must be in like-new condition and should be appropriate for the workplace. Men's clothing and plus-sized items are particularly needed. Casual clothing, shoes, and jewelry are not currently accepted.
