AU's website, www.Mindlink.org, was created and developed by Advocacy Unlimited, Inc. to meet the informational, support, and networking needs of people with, or in recovery from, psychiatric disabilities or co-occurring disorders, their families, and their supporters across Connecticut.

 

The website's purpose is:

• To provide a wealth of information, resources, and support for persons with, or in recovery from, psychiatric disabilities or co-occurring disorders.
• To provide a mechanism for promoting cooperation, affirmation, and inspiration across all cultures and communities.
• To establish a network dedicated to improving the emotional and physical health of people with, or in recovery from, psychiatric disabilities or co-occurring disorders, consumer supporters, consumer groups, and consumer supporter groups by linking them together in a unified network.
• To bring together and provide a place where individuals can exchange ideas, learn skills, brainstorm problems, and unite for action when needed; to play a central role in shaping the policies and services that affect their lives so that a Loud, Clear, and United Voice will be heard.
• To support the efforts of consumers through educational and resource materials, legislative action alerts, employment announcements, and other relevant information on meetings and educational opportunities.
• To assist providers of services and family members with needed information to support individuals in their choices.
• To maximize the social, employment, educational, and housing opportunities for individuals by removing barriers through information and awareness.
• To maximize the impact of the network by providing materials that de-stigmatize or demystify mental illness and promote heightened sensitivities and greater consumer empowerment.
