Long-time and dedicated AU Advocate
Michael Mallia passes away

In memory and celebration…

Sadly, dear friend and long-time AU Advocate Michael Mallia passed away on Friday, January 6th. Mike graduated from the AU Advocacy Course in July, 2000. He was a dedicated advocate who loved AU and had many friends among the graduate advocates. For most of his life, Michael lived in Plainville and was active with the Plainville Jaycees and Lions clubs, and also involved in town services.

Visiting hours were Friday, Jan. 13th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home in Plainville. A funeral service was held 10:00 am Saturday, Jan. 14th at Plainville United Methodist church. Committal services followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 19 S. Canal Street, Plainville, CT, 06062.

All of AU offers our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Michael's family. Michael will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and whose lives he touched.

Michael's Obituary:

Michael J. Mallia, Jr., passed away on Jan. 6, 2012 in Bristol, CT. Michael was an inspiration to all family and friends whose lives he touched as he courageously endured a long series of ailments.

He will be missed but forever remembered by his loved ones. Michael is survived by his daughter, Angela, brothers Paul and Rick, sister Dianne, sister-in-laws Sherry and Fran, nephews Jim, Jeff and Kyle, nieces Jill, Kim, Crissi and Kristen, as well as a host of extended family and friends. He joins his mother Nan and father Michael Sr. in eternal rest.

For most of his life Michael lived in Plainville and was active with the Plainville Jaycees and Lions clubs, holding several officer positions and spearheading fundraisers to raise money for school scholarships and the needy. He worked tirelessly as a registered nurse for several healthcare facilities, including Hartford Hospital and Bristol Hospital, a perfect career for his passion of helping people in need. He will be missed for his warm heart, kindness and generosity to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Visiting hours will we be on Friday Jan. 13 from 7:00PM-9:00PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, CT. The funeral service will take place Saturday Jan. 14 at 10:00AM at Plainville United Methodist Church, 56 Red Stone Hill. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 AM -10:00 AM on Saturday. Committal services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Michael may be remembered with contributions to the Lions Club of Plainville, Inc., PO Box 9, Plainville, CT 06062-0009.
