AU was honored to have the following special guests at this celebration:
Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra; Yvette Bello, LCS Executive Director; Wilfredo Nieves, Ed.D, CCC President; Pat Rehmer, MSW, DMHAS Commissioner; State Representative Minnie Gonzalez; and Ana Alfaro, Public Affairs Specialist for Connecticut Light & Power and Producer/Host, El Show de Analeh, CH18 Univision Network. Kevin Miller, AU Community Advocate and Graduate, was the keynote speaker. AU Executive Director Dr. Karen Kangas and class instructor Annette Deonarine, AU Director of Multicultural Affairs, presided over the ceremony.
A large gathering of friends, family, guests, AU Supporters, fellow AU, RU, and Young Adult "Super Advocate" graduates attended the ceremony.
Light refreshments were served following the commencement ceremony.
AU appreciates and thanks Latino Community Services of Hartford, CT for hosting this 13th Latino Advocacy Education Course and graduation.

69 AU courses and 50 graduations have now been held throughout Connecticut since AU was founded. Thirteen of the courses have been offered in Spanish. A total of 487 persons in recovery from psychiatric disabilities or co-occurring disorders have now graduated and become AU Advocates, 97 of whom are Hispanic course graduates. More than 60 young adults have graduated from AU's Young Adult "Super Advocate" Program. In addition, 318 individuals have been State Certified as Recovery Support Specialists through AU's comprehensive Recovery University program.
