Graduation Ceremony

46th Advocacy Education Course Graduation

Advocacy Unlimited is extremely pleased to have held its 46th Advocacy Education Course Commencement Ceremony honoring the 9th Hispanic and 2011 Wethersfield Classes.

The graduation was held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Advocacy Unlimited, Inc. office in Wethersfield, CT. Honored guest speakers were Angel Morales, Secretary of the Hartford Democratic Town Committee and Member of the CT Hispanic Democratic Caucus, along with Iran Negron, Peace Builders Program Director. AU's Executive Director Dr. Karen Kangas and class instructors Selina Welborn and Annette Deonarine hosted the ceremony and presented the students with their Graduation Certificates.

A large gathering of friends, family, guests, AU staff, and fellow AU and RU graduates attended this graduation celebration. Refreshments prepared by the graduates were served following the commencement ceremony.


64 AU courses and 46 graduations have now been held throughout Connecticut since AU was founded. Nine of the courses have been offered in Spanish. More than 460 persons in recovery from psychiatric disabilities or co-occurring disorders have now graduated and become AU Advocates. More than 50 young adults have graduated from AU's Young Adult "Super Advocate" Program.
