Many friends, family, guests, and fellow AU Advocates attended the ceremony honoring the graduating students.

The commencement ceremony featured keynote speaker William Pierce, Director of Client Initiatives for GDMHA and Client Rights Officer as well as DMHAS Commissioner Thomas A. Kirk, Jr., Ph.D.  AU Director of Education Annette Deonarine and AU Educator and AU Educator/VISTA Volunteer Selina Welborn hosted the Presentation of Certificates.

Each of the graduates provided inspirational and moving speeches focusing on their recoveries. We are extremely proud of our new Advocates, and welcome them to the AU Advocate team. The new graduates will now begin their 6-month internships in the community.

A complimentary reception followed the commencement activities.

The 35 graduations are the culmination of 49 AU classes that have been held throughout Connecticut since AU was founded. Nearly 350 students have now graduated and become AU Advocates.
